Hey everyone! It’s been a minute…I’ve been super busy with college applications and winter break plans with my family— but I’m back. I know it’s a Friday and not my usual Wednesday post, but I couldn’t wait to jump back in and start writing again. In light of the new year, I’m going to talk about my most anticipated films of the year!
Superman
I’ve been following updates on this movie ever since James Gunn announced it, and the latest teaser trailer has been on repeat since its release. I’m obsessed with everything about it, from the top-tiered casting to getting an on-screen Krypto. The childhood D.C. fan inside me is screaming, and this is for sure my most anticipated film of the year.
Mickey 17
Despite being delayed numerous times, my hype for Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17 has not died down a single bit. I can’t wait to see Robert Pattinson on the big screen again; based on the trailer, we get to see a quirky side of his acting that I’ve deeply missed (I still love him as Bruce Wayne, of course!). The rest of the cast looks impeccable as well, with Steven Yeun and Naomi Ackie starring alongside Pattinson. I plan on reading the book that it’s based off of (Mickey 7) as well, but whether or not I have time for that before the movie comes out is up in the air.
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
I adore the Knives Out cinematic universe, and although I’m a firm believer that the first movie is far superior to the second, Glass Onion, I’m nevertheless excited for the third one. The cast, as always, is iconic, and one of my favorite actresses Cailee Spaeny is starring. Currently, the plot has been kept under wraps, but I’m expecting a synopsis and, hopefully, a teaser trailer soon.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey
Although not much has been said about this film, Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell are leading and that alone has made it one of my most anticipated movies. This will be Robbie’s return to theaters since the legendary Barbie era, and putting her opposite Farrell has to be one of the best casting decisions ever. I can’t wait to see their chemistry, and I don’t doubt that this has Oscar-potential.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
The Marvel fan in me has to admit that I’m looking forward to seeing The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Although the casting has me skeptical, the pictures that have been released look promising, and I trust that it can be done right. I truly believe that this movie will determine whether the MCU is done for good, or if they’ll have a comeback.
